Wrinkle-Smoothing Treatment Guidelines (Dysport, Daxxify, Botox)

Please reschedule if any of the following apply

  • Pregnancy or nursing: You are currently pregnant or nursing.
  • Neurological conditions: You have myasthenia gravis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), or Lambert-Eaton syndrome.

Pre-Treatment Recommendations

  • Zinc supplementation: Enhance the longevity of your results by taking 30–50 mg of zinc daily (preferably zinc citrate or zinc gluconate), starting 4 to 7 days before your treatment.
  • Minimize bruising risk:
    • Take 2,000 mg of vitamin C daily for collagen support and to reduce bruising potential; the earlier you start, the better.
    • Use oral arnica pellets (available online or at health food stores) as directed on the package.
    • Avoid supplements and medications that increase bleeding and bruising risk, such as omega-3s, turmeric, ibuprofen, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, garlic, and aspirin, for at least 7 days prior to treatment.
    • Do not discontinue any prescribed anticoagulants without consulting your prescriber first.
    • Refrain from consuming alcohol, particularly red wine, for 4 days prior to your appointment.

What to Expect After Your Treatment

  • Patience with results: Treatments can take 2 to 5 days to begin taking effect. Full results may take 14 to 21 days to appear, and your appearance will subtly evolve every day.
  • Mild headaches: Mild headaches after treatment are common and typically resolve quickly. Over-the-counter medications can be used if needed.
  • Injection bumps: Small, localized bumps at the injection sites are normal and should subside within a few hours.
  • Temporary unevenness: The human face is naturally asymmetrical. Occasionally, one side may take effect faster than the other. Wait the full 14 to 21 days before assessing the need for a touch-up.
  • Bruising: Bruising is common and typically resolves within 7–14 days. If you have an upcoming event, ask your provider whether a BBL laser spot treatment may help reduce the appearance of bruising.

Post-Treatment Guidelines

  • Activity restrictions:
    • Keep your head elevated above your heart for at least 4 hours after your treatment.
    • Avoid touching, massaging, or applying unnecessary pressure to the treated areas for 24 hours.
    • Avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sweating, and heat exposure (including hot tubs, saunas, and steam rooms) for 24 hours, as these may affect results.
  • Swelling and bruising:
    • Arnica gel or cream may be applied topically. Oral arnica pellets may also be taken as directed on the package.
    • Bromelain supplements may be taken as directed on the package. Do not take bromelain if you have a pineapple allergy or are taking blood thinners unless approved by your prescriber.

Contact us immediately if you experience any of the following

  • Difficulty breathing or swallowing (call 911 and notify your provider).
  • Severe or increasing pain or swelling in the treated area.
  • Blisters, pus, or other abnormal discharge.

Follow-Up Treatments

  • After 14–21 days: It takes 14 to 21 days for your treatment to settle. Please schedule a follow-up appointment if you notice any asymmetry, drooping, "Spocking," or if your results are lighter than expected.
  • Duration: Results typically last 3 to 4 months. The exact duration varies depending on the dose, the area treated, the brand of wrinkle smoother used, and your body's natural nerve regeneration.
  • Maintenance: To keep your results looking their best, we recommend retreatment every 3 to 4 months, typically when your baseline muscle movement begins to return.

Dermal Filler Treatment Guidelines (Restylane, RHA, Juvederm, Radiesse)

Please reschedule if any of the following apply

  • Pregnancy or nursing: You are currently pregnant or nursing.
  • Active conditions: You have an active infection, autoimmune flare-up, or a cold sore (if treating the mouth area).
  • Recent or upcoming health events: You have had or are scheduling facial surgery, vaccinations, or significant dental work (e.g., root canals, fillings, deep cleanings) within two weeks of your treatment. You have had facial trauma or general illness within the last 2 weeks.
  • Upcoming social events: You have a major event (e.g., wedding, vacation, photoshoot) within two weeks after your treatment. Bruising, swelling, and redness are common after dermal fillers and require recovery time.

Pre-Treatment Recommendations

  • Hydrate and eat: Drink plenty of water and eat a light snack before your treatment to avoid dizziness or lightheadedness during the treatment.
  • Travel notice: Please inform your provider if you will be traveling within 24–48 hours after your appointment.

What to Expect After Your Treatment

  • Swelling and tenderness: Swelling and tenderness are normal and usually peak during the first 24–48 hours before gradually improving. Final results are typically visible within 2–4 weeks.
  • Temporary asymmetry: The human face is naturally asymmetrical. Swelling may make the treated areas appear uneven, especially in the lips. This is temporary and usually resolves as the filler settles over the next 2–4 weeks.
  • Firmness: It's common for treated areas to feel firm or slightly lumpy at first. This softens as the filler integrates into the tissue.
  • Bruising: Bruising is common and typically resolves within 7–14 days. If you have an upcoming event, ask your provider whether a BBL laser spot treatment may help reduce the appearance of bruising.
  • Healing is a process: Mild swelling, bruising, tenderness, firmness, and temporary asymmetry are all expected parts of healing and improve as the filler settles. If you experience worsening pain, increasing redness, blanching of the skin, or any changes in vision, contact your provider immediately.

Post-Treatment Guidelines

  • Activity restrictions:
    • Avoid touching, massaging, or applying unnecessary pressure to the treated areas unless instructed by your provider.
    • Avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sweating, and heat exposure (including hot tubs, saunas, and steam rooms) for 24 hours, as these may increase swelling and bruising.
  • Take care of your skin:
    • Keep the treated areas clean and dry. Avoid submerging your face in water (e.g., swimming pools, hot tubs, baths, lakes, ocean) for 24 hours.
    • Do not apply makeup for 24 hours. When you resume wearing makeup, use clean brushes and applicators.
    • Avoid retinol, retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, and other exfoliating products for 3 days to minimize irritation.
    • Sleep on a clean pillowcase the first night after treatment.
  • Swelling and bruising:
    • Apply a cold compress for 10–15 minutes at a time during the first 24 hours as needed. Avoid placing ice directly on the skin.
    • Antihistamines such as Zyrtec, Allegra, or Claritin may reduce swelling. Take as directed on the package.
    • Sleep with your head elevated the first night to help reduce swelling.

Contact us immediately if you experience any of the following

  • Difficulty breathing or swallowing (call 911 and notify your provider).
  • Severe or increasing pain or swelling in the treated area.
  • Skin changes beyond typical bruising (e.g., pale, mottled, or excessively hot or cold areas). Notify your provider immediately if bruising spreads to other areas of the face.
  • Blisters, pus, or other abnormal discharge.

Follow-Up Treatments

  • Touch-up appointments: Please allow 2 to 4 weeks for the filler to fully settle before seeking additional correction or touch-ups.
  • Duration of results: Dermal fillers typically last between 6 months and 2 years. Longevity depends on the specific product used, injection site, volume injected, and the tissue's ability to break it down.
  • Maintenance: Retreatment is recommended when the treated area begins to return to its pre-treatment baseline.

Sculptra Treatment Guidelines

  • Hydrate and eat: Drink plenty of water and eat a light snack before your treatment.
  • Boost collagen production: Take 2,000 mg of vitamin C daily leading up to your appointment. Starting early improves results!

  • Collagen takes time: Visible results often take about 3–6 months due to the collagen production process. Patience is key!

Post-Treatment Guidelines

  • 5-5-5 massage:
    • Massage the treated areas using upward strokes for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days. This step is crucial to achieving optimal results and reducing potential side effects. Make sure your hands are clean before touching your face!

  • Skin changes beyond typical bruising (e.g., pale, mottled, or excessively hot or cold areas). Notify your provider immediately if bruising spreads to other areas of the face.
  • Blisters, pus, or other abnormal discharge.

Follow-Up Treatments

  • Subsequent treatments: Sculptra provides the best results when administered in a series. We recommend scheduling your subsequent treatments 4 to 8 weeks apart until you reach the total number of vials outlined in your personalized treatment plan.
  • Duration of results: Because Sculptra stimulates your own natural collagen production, the results are highly durable and can last 2 years or more. However, natural aging continues. Factors such as age, sun exposure, lifestyle habits, and weight fluctuations will gradually break down your body's collagen over time.
  • Maintenance: To maintain your skin's enhanced firmness, structure, and elasticity, we recommend booking a single maintenance session once a year.

Le Luxe Microneedling Guidelines

Please reschedule if any of the following apply

  • Pregnancy or nursing: You are currently pregnant or nursing.
  • Active or recent conditions: You have an active infection on the face or a cold sore (if treating the mouth area). You have had facial trauma within the last 2 weeks.
  • Accutane or certain skincare: You are using or have used Accutane within the last 6 months, or you have used products containing hydroquinone, retinol, or exfoliating acids in the past 3–7 days.
  • Upcoming social events: You have a major event (e.g., wedding, vacation, photoshoot) within a week after your treatment. Side effects may include bruising, swelling, redness, and skin peeling.

Pre-Treatment Recommendations

  • Pause active skincare: Discontinue hydroquinone, retinol, and exfoliating acids at least 3 to 5 days before your treatment.
  • Prevent viral outbreaks: If you are prone to cold sores or fever blisters, begin taking an antiviral medication (e.g., Valtrex) three days prior to the procedure to reduce the risk of an outbreak. If needed, contact your provider for a prescription.
  • Prepare your skin: Avoid dermaplaning or shaving your face for one week prior to your appointment. Arrive at your appointment with clean skin, free of makeup or skincare products.
  • If receiving PRFM as a microneedling booster (see the PRFM guidelines below):
    • Avoid aspirin for 7 days prior to treatment.
    • Drink plenty of water (preferably with electrolytes) before your appointment to prepare for the blood draw.

What to Expect After Your Treatment

  • Redness: Your skin may appear red and flushed, similar to a sunburn, immediately after the procedure. This typically subsides within 3–5 days.
  • Skin texture: Expect some dryness, tightness, and mild peeling, which should resolve in 3–7 days. Avoid manually peeling the skin, as this could result in scarring or hyperpigmentation.
  • Healing time: Most individuals experience full recovery within 7 days.

Post-Treatment Guidelines

  • Activity restrictions:
    • Avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sweating, and heat exposure (including hot tubs, saunas, and steam rooms) for 48 hours, as these may increase skin irritation.
  • Take care of your skin:
    • Avoid submerging your face in water (e.g., swimming pools, hot tubs, baths, lakes, ocean) for 24 hours.
    • Do not apply makeup for 24 hours. When you resume wearing makeup, use clean brushes and applicators.
    • Sleep on a clean pillowcase the first night after treatment.
  • Redness and irritation:
    • Antihistamines such as Zyrtec, Allegra, or Claritin may reduce redness and irritation. Take as directed on the package.
    • Avoid retinol, retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, and other exfoliating products or procedures for 7–14 days, depending on skin sensitivity, to minimize irritation.
    • Avoid procedures such as microdermabrasion, laser treatments, dermaplaning, and shaving until skin is fully healed.

Follow-Up Treatments

  • Subsequent treatments: For optimal results, multiple sessions (usually 3–4) may be recommended based on your skin's condition and goals. For concerns like acne scarring, 6–8 sessions may be necessary. Your provider will tailor a plan to your specific needs.
  • Visible results: Initial improvements can often be seen after the first treatment, with continued progress following subsequent sessions.

Post-Treatment Skincare Routine

Your skin has tiny microchannels immediately following your treatment. Proper aftercare is essential for optimal healing and results.

The First 24 Hours (Most Important)

  • Please do not apply anything to your skin for the first 24 hours. This includes skincare products, sunscreen, makeup, or other topical products.
  • There is no need to wash or rinse your face during this time unless specifically instructed.
  • Your skin will feel warm, tight, and dry. This is normal!

To reduce the risk of infection:

  • Sleep on a clean pillowcase the night of your treatment.
  • Avoid touching your face unnecessarily.
  • Do not allow pets to lick your face.
  • Keep your skin as clean as possible during this healing period.

Morning

  1. Cleanse with MBR Cleanser.
  2. Apply Environ Après-CIT Serum, if using (see note below).
  3. Apply MBR Cream.
  4. Apply a mineral sunscreen (SPF 30+).

Evening

  1. Remove sunscreen and/or makeup with micellar water or a gentle makeup remover, if needed.
  2. Cleanse with MBR Cleanser.
  3. Apply the MBR Clay Mask for 20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
  4. Apply Environ Après-CIT Serum, if using (see note below).
  5. Apply MBR Cream.

If using Environ Après-CIT Serum: Apply 1 mL of serum using the provided syringe and blunt-tip needle twice daily for 5 days (10 applications total): in the morning after cleansing, and in the evening after removing the clay mask.

Continue this morning and evening routine unless otherwise directed.

Starting Day 3

  • Your redness has typically improved by this point, but dryness and tightness are common.
  • Continue your post-treatment routine.
  • You may add a hydrating serum before your moisturizer if additional hydration is needed.
  • If your skin feels especially dry, you may substitute the MBR Cream with a richer, fragrance-free moisturizer (Vanicream, Cetaphil, etc.).
  • Continue to avoid active skincare ingredients, including retinoids, exfoliating acids, vitamin C, benzoyl peroxide, and other anti-aging products.

Starting Day 5

  • Most patients are nearly back to normal.
  • You may resume your regular gentle cleanser, moisturizer, and hydrating serums.
  • Continue avoiding strong active ingredients, including acids and retinoids, until Day 7.

Starting Day 7

  • You may gradually resume your normal skincare routine.
  • Reintroduce retinoids, exfoliating acids, and other active ingredients slowly.
  • If any product causes burning or stinging, rinse it off and wait several more days before trying again.

Platelet Rich Fibrin Matrix (PRFM) Guidelines

We are unable to proceed with treatment if you

  • Have a history of blood-related or bone marrow disorders, or are currently anemic.
  • Currently have cancer.

Please reschedule if any of the following apply

  • Pregnancy or nursing: You are currently pregnant or nursing.
  • Aspirin or high-dose NSAIDs: You have taken these medications within the last 7 days, as they affect platelet activity.

  • Hydrate and eat: Drink at least 64 ounces of water daily (electrolytes are encouraged) and have a light meal or snack before your treatment to support the blood draw process.
  • Pause medications: Refrain from taking aspirin or NSAIDs (you may need to consult with your prescriber), as these affect platelet activity.
  • Minimize bruising risk:
    • Take 2,000 mg of vitamin C daily for collagen support and to reduce bruising potential; the earlier you start, the better.
    • Use oral arnica pellets (available online or at health food stores) as directed on the package.
    • Avoid supplements and medications that increase bruising risk, such as omega-3s, turmeric, ibuprofen, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, garlic, and aspirin, for at least 7 days before treatment.
    • Do not discontinue any prescribed anticoagulants without consulting your prescriber first.
    • Refrain from consuming alcohol, particularly red wine, for 4 days prior to your appointment.

What to Expect After Your Treatment

  • Swelling and tenderness: Swelling and tenderness are normal and usually peak during the first 24–48 hours before gradually improving.
  • Temporary asymmetry: The human face is naturally asymmetrical. Swelling may make the treated areas appear uneven. This is temporary and usually resolves as the tissue heals.
  • Firmness: It's common for treated areas to feel firm or slightly lumpy at first. This softens as healing continues.
  • Bruising: Bruising is common and typically resolves within 7–14 days. If you have an upcoming event, ask your provider whether a BBL laser spot treatment may help reduce the appearance of bruising.

Post-Treatment Guidelines

  • Activity restrictions:
    • Avoid touching, massaging, or applying unnecessary pressure to the treated areas unless instructed by your provider.
    • Avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sweating, and heat exposure (including hot tubs, saunas, and steam rooms) for 24 hours, as these may increase swelling and bruising.
  • Take care of your skin:
    • Keep the treated areas clean and dry. Avoid submerging them in water (e.g., swimming pools, hot tubs, baths) for 24 hours.
    • Arnica gel or cream may be applied topically.
    • Sleep with your head elevated the first night to help reduce swelling.

Follow-Up Treatments

  • Subsequent treatments: Optimal skin rejuvenation is a cumulative process. Depending on your goals, your provider will design a customized plan, typically including 1 to 3 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.
  • Visible results: PRFM releases growth factors that signal your body to produce new collagen. While you may notice an early glow, true structural changes take time. Significant improvements in skin texture, tone, and firmness emerge at 6 to 8 weeks and continue improving for up to 3 months.
  • Duration of results: Because PRFM generates new, healthy tissue and collagen, the results are highly durable and typically last 12 to 18 months. However, natural aging and environmental factors continue to affect the skin.
  • Maintenance: To maintain your optimal results, we recommend a single maintenance session once or twice a year.
